About Dr. Don Cote

Dr. Don Cote grew up in rural New England. He is the first born and only son of two loving, but poor and uneducated parents. Neither of his parents finished seventh grade. At the age of 39 Don’s father became totally disabled and the family had to go on Welfare. Determined to help out, he started his first business at the age of nine. It was a shoe shine business. At 16 he bought a pick up truck and did odd jobs. He bought his first piece of real estate at 22 years old. Throughout his twenties he continued to buy rental properties, but lost everything in the real estate crash of the early 1990s.

Don not only lost all of his property and had to file for bankruptcy, he ended up getting divorced and became homeless.

After spending some time feeling sorry for himself, his dying father reminded him he had a million dollar education that no one could take away from him and that he needed to stop the pity party and get back to work.

Don went on to become the vice president of a nationwide mortgage bank and has taught real estate investing to over 250,000 people all over North America.

Don is famous for saying, “Mindset powers skill sets.” In 1995, to help get himself back on his feet, he created his own Step-by-Step Success System. Some friends asked if he would teach them, and now it has been taught to thousands of people worldwide. Today it is known as The LifeWorks Life Mastery System. 

Don’s first book, How LifeWorks: 3 Simple Steps to Happiness and Success, explains his system. His second and third books are anthologies. Each chapter was written by one of his students and explains, in their own words, how the system helped them achieve their dreams. The third book is an international bestseller.
